    Do you feel that it is ok for this type of hunting for those that have seen the video only and agree that it should be forgotten and jimmy should be forgiven?

    Forgiven = YES
    Forgotten = NO

    Everyone makes mistakes and he deserves to be forgiven also.

    To each his own.

    The bad thing to me is Noel Feather is the only one I know of that that was shunned & disgraced. The rest goes on. Jimmy & at least one other I know of is still on TV & still making videos. What a shame.:cry:

    Forgotten or Forgiven definitely not. He is a disgrace to the hunting world. He should have stuck to fishing. He and Hank Parker!!

    Obviously you don’t think it should be forgotten or you wouldn’t have brought it up.

    Forgive him? For what?

    For performing an act I don’t care for? If I got involved in forgiving everyone who did that I’d have little time in life for anything else.

    I’m not sure it’s pertinent whether I forgive him or not, so I’m inclined to agree with you there, Clay.

    One point that I would distinguish, though, is that the issue with Houston was more than simply a preference of how to hunt, but was a clear violation of both state and federal game laws. Because of his public persona, it truly was a black eye for legal hunters.

    As for the man himself, I didn’t watch him before; don’t watch him now. doesn’t really impact me one way or the other in that regard. I’m sure folks from other parts of the country had never heard of Bellar’s Place before JH made it famous, but around here it was pretty common knowledge that ‘funny’ stuff was happening there and that laws (at least state laws) were being broken by hunting out of season and allowing rifles to be used in a shotgun only state.

    What bothered me more than anything else at the time was that JH seemed more concerned with finding a viable excuse than truly apologizing to the sporting community, but that was simply the impression I got.

    It was a video of Jimmy Houston shooting a quite obviously drugged deer within a small enclosure at Bellar’s Place, a small high-fence operation in North Central Indiana. Russell Bellar, the owner of the operation, was convicted in Federal court and served more than a year in prison, IIRC, for his activities. There were numerous celebrities who participated with Bellar. Some of the charges against BP included:

    1. Drugging dear
    2. Illegal Interstate transportation
    3. Hunting out of season
    4. Hunting with an illegal weapon

    I’m sure there were others, but this is just some of what I recall from the time. It was several years ago, but it was a big stink at the time.

    For the two people that do not know of the video you just have to see the stuff that Jimmy Houston did and the others there on the other hunt videos to believe it. If I only had saved the video to my hard drive. I would guess that Jimmy or someone he knew bought out the video owner or something like that for it to just be gone over the entire internet. I have searched all the popular search engines for it. If I find them I will post them on here for those that have not seen it before.

    Did Jimmy snub you at a show or what… it sure seems to be personal since this is nearly ancient history… and plenty of other celebrities have stumbled in the public eye since then…

    He paid his fine, the Fed’s are satisfied and life goes on..

    I agree with you, Mark, but I also think that our sport is too important to completely forget such things. [=}=]
