“… go forth, and sin no more.” That’s the hard part.
I liked engaging the Squadron Chaplain’s in debates about religion and sin. While it may have nothing to do with Salvation, it makes one think about how they use their lives, whether they believe in God or not.
Q1. Is forgiveness or a just life based on a ratio of good deeds vs bad deeds … saintly acts vs sins? If so, how many more good deeds than bad deeds does one need, just one? How are good deeds weighted in comparison to bad deeds, is there a sliding scale of “goodness” and “badness”? If you commit 1000 good deeds and 999 bad deeds, does that make you a ‘good’ person? If you sin all your life, but give your life to save others, how does that figure into being a ‘good’ or ‘just’ life?
Q2. What defines a ‘good deed’ or a ‘bad deed’? Is it legal law or moral law or ethics? Who defines what is legal, moral, or ethical? Does Individual Ethics supersede Social Ethics or is it the other way around?
Q3. How long are you held responsible for your acts? If in your life you do a ‘good deed’ and dig a well that saves a thirsty people, but when the well goes dry you board it over and cover it with earth. 500 years later the rotted boards give way and a child falls into that well and perishes, are you wholly or only partly responsible for the child’s death … how responsible? If you had been Canonized as a Saint, would you lose your Sainthood because you didn’t fill in the well?
Q4. What is the meaning of Life? … not just our lives, but also the lives of microbes, amoebas. Why is there Life everywhere we look, like it is some Universal Imperative?
Q5. Is the Devine Being (God, Yahweh, Allah, etc.) of this Universe or outside this Universe?
Q6. Is there is a Devine Being or rather some Natural Force, which is responsible for this Universe? If there are Universes outside this one, is there just one Devine Being or just one Natural Force or many?
Yeah, the more we think about it, the more complicated it becomes, and the more we realize we know nothing.
Faith, my friend … and Grace. That is all we really have.

Words mean nothing, it is what is in your heart.
“For the past three hundred years men have been pointing out how similar Jesus Christ’s teachings are to other good teachings. We have to remember that Christianity, if it is not a supernatural miracle, is a sham.” Oswald Chambers
I believe!"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learnt something from yesterday." John WaynePrayer is not only asking, it is an attitude of heart that produces an atmosphere in which asking is perfectly natural, and Jesus says, “every one that asketh receiveth.”- Oswald Chambers
The cool thing about Jesus is he is the true Son of God. He told the people, “destroy this temple and I will rebuild it in three days. What he meant was, after they killed him, crucified him, he would rise from the dead! And he did! Jesus is the true Son of God! When Budda died, he stayed dead, when mohammond died , he stayed dead. Folks, God is love, and his son is Jesus, the real and true God!God gives us only so much time on earth, don't waste it. Jesus blood washes sins away, just pray.
Location: Call me...867-5309Um, I believe that Muhammad is considered a prophet sent by God. And Buddha was not a God either but a sage… Apples and oranges. The end is near....
Hahaha, I do like your dry since of humor Statedriller, yes Buddha is somtimes referred to as sage or weed, now about Mohammond, you are half right, he was a prophet, a false prophet sent by Satan, to deceive people from the one true God, Jesus Christ!God gives us only so much time on earth, don't waste it. Jesus blood washes sins away, just pray.
