Once you use the 60 pounder and recognize the feel and speed of the 60 vs. 70, you’ll never want to shoot the 70 again. Lighter arrow weight equals speed and comfort!

Dan, the only thing your giving up is KE, your speed stays the same. Let’s say @ 60lbs with 300gr. arrow your pushing 280fps. @ 70 your still pushing 280fps but you have more KE because of a 350gr. arrow. You have to ask yourself, do I need that much KE? most of the times not, IMHO. I would get the bow in 50/60 and buy a second set of limbs for hunting season if you felt the need for more KE.

DUH!!!!!!! WHY THE HECK DIDN;T I THINK OF THAT?????[/size:3dux3nsk]

Order 2 sets of limbs!!!!!! Sheesh….sometimes I amaze myself..

    Thanks Paul. :thumbup

HEY! What are you doing here? (He’s a BLOWIE!) :D :D

I have both sets of limbs for my xt, with the 60 lb ones on currently. I don’t know if I will ever put on the 70 lb ones unless I go elk hunting. 60 lbs is nice to draw in cold weather. You will be the best judge on how you are going to use it. A bad shot is a bad shot no matter how much you pull.

Yeah, I know – but I want to leave the bow maxed for optimun tuining andperformance.

Thanks for all the replies guys.[/quote:3igaqkdl]

I think that if you are questioning it, you need to go with the 60 pounders. Once that doubt creeps in your mind, I would just switch or you’ll be doubting yourself later… JMO. [=}=] :thumbup[/quote:3igaqkdl]

Very true, I spent all last season second guessing the 70# XT! I’ll more than likely be getting 60# limbs for her this year as well as ordering a Dren w/ 60# limbs!! :thumbup

I will be ordering my Drennie tommorw night.

    Black Limbs.

BUT…the big question I am going back and forth with…..

    What weight range?

I know they have been maxing out high, so I should get 74 or so from a 70 pounder and likewise for 60….

I deer and turkey hunt, shoot indoor 3D (22 yard max) and outdoor 3D – 55 yard max or so….

I REALLY want the extra zip of the 70 pounder, but I know the 60 pounder would be better for me……

What kind of speeds do you expect from the 60 pounder?[/quote:1ei553o7]

    I have a Drenalin 70/28.5 and shoot it at 60 – 63 lbs more than I shoot it at 70 – 72 lbs.

    At 60# with a 302 grain VX22HV 10.4% FOC, I get 294 fps.

    At 63# with a 336 gr ACC 3-49 7% FOC, I get 288 fps.

    At 71.6# with a 435 gr Victory VForce 350, 14.7% FOC, I get 273 fps.

Some say the Dren is noiser at the lower poundage, but even if it were, who cares for 3D and Indoor target? Personally, I don’t find the bow noisier or less efficient at the lower DW settings, and I like the flexibility to make minor adjustments +-3 lbs DW to tune my target/3D arrows, and the option of cranking it up to go after Elk or other big game.

Norb Mullaney tested the Drenalin and found that it was just as efficient or more so at the lowest DW setting as it is at the highest:

The 70 lb limbs sell quicker on resale, if you are one to sell/trade bows.

If pulling more than about 60 lbs is an issue, or if you would never hunt game larger than deer, and/or would shoot Indoors at mid-50# DW, then the 60 lbs limbs would be the better choice. Otherwise, I’d recommend the 70 lb limbs. [=}=]

As an aside, I take weeks and weeks of testing and post results of data on arrows and vanes, post how to build spine testers, etc., and within a few months they go Poooph!, so how does something like this hang around for 3 years … :smt15
