    hey all,

i know i have read threads in the past when people are questioning whether or not to go hunting with a black (riser, or all black) bow. for the record i have hunted now 3 seasons with my black LD and have had 50-60 deer come by my stands and none of them were ever alerted by my rig. i had an experience last weekend. i was finishing up my morning hunt and had lowered my bow. while my bow was hanging from the rope 3′ off the ground a decent 2.5 yr old 8 pt came strolling by the base of my tree. he came within 4′ of my hanging bow and never even blinked, picked his way thru and never looked back (he was in no hurry, just meandering along). for those of you worried about tree stand hunting with anything but a camo bow, not to worry.

I don’t mean any offense to anyone….but some people DO get carried away with little things. People have siad the same thing to me about turkey hunting with a black shotgun, never been a problem. Maybe I don’t move around enough!! :D

I kind of have to laugh at people that think your camo all has to match. Although, I admit, it does make for better pictures after the kill, but as far as getting the job done, I don’t think deer care if your pants, shirt, jacket, sock, boots, gloves and underwear are all matching camo ! :whistle

On another forum there is guy who hunts with a very white bow. He has pictures with it possed with several deer this season……..not had a problem putting them down. He hunts where the snow does not fly too or very often.
A white bow does not make a difference either.

Yeah I love this topic. Im hunting with a M7 with a black riser. The Monster Graphics on the limbs make them nearly all black as well. My justification is this: None of my rifles are camo (except for the furniture on the Encore) and NEVER had a prob.
The only reason I prefer a Camo bow is that when I started this, it was hard to get a camo bow.
And like CBM, my camo clothing seldom matches. I like it that way, after all, its CAMO. 8D

I’m pretty particular about my camo clothing … after 5 days I dig into the dirty clothes sack and select only the ones whose smell matches and aren’t too ripe.

Get some shadows around you and the black is the best camo there is.

I worry more about shiny surfaces and movement than the camo pattern.

Sweet JD! I can’t imagine a better color for being invisible than black, so no doubt that buck had no clue what ‘color’ that bow was. BTW, how do you like that HeliM relative to your Z9’s?

Looking into a new bow, I really like the black versions of the new stuff out there right now. The carbon fiber tactical looks awesome too. I dont think the deer are going to care one way or the other, so its basically up to me and my tastes :)

Lee, I still like my Z9 now even more it’s cold out.I can wear heavy bulky coat and don’t have to worry about hitting my arm.Plus it seams to draw just as ez as the Heilim even tho it’s set @70lbs.

Thanks JD! A local shop has a brand new (2012), 60 lb. Z9 that they will sell me for $799. I’m mighty tempted to go pick it up :D
