Don’t have the exact count right now, but about 26. Two real hunting and the rest were management deer.
I have one in the freezer, the rest were donated.[/quote:33360pzn]

Excuse me? How is that legal?

Five is the limit here. There must be a lot of deer up there if you can take that many, to say nothing of the stand location you must have to get and make that many shots.

I just like to think that hunters here that take enough game for their families, might consider donating the excess deer to the hungry 8D

Definitely! Already donated one doe this year, and plan to donate any more deer I can get too. I try to donate one deer every year, provided I can take one for the freezer first.[/quote:3pornqci]

Who do you contact about donating deer? I have one doe tag left and the wife and I don’t really need any more meat this year. I’ve been thinking about filling my third tag and donating the deer.

Also, I assume they want the deer processed first, and don’t take whole deer carcasses?

EDIT: I located the information on donating venison in Minnesota. I posted it on the “Venison Donations” thread in the bowhunting forum. And just to avoid any confusion or rumors getting started, they only accept whole carcasses here. Cut and wrapped meat will not be accepted, and processing must be done by one of a short list of approved processors.

I’m aware of that. However, I have lived within 30 miles of the Wisconsin border (where othersubject lives) all of my life. I know people from Wisconsin. I’ve worked with people from Wisconsin. I get into Wisconsin for work at least once every week or two. I have never heard of anyone being able to take 26 deer legally in Wisconsin.

I’m not accusing anyone of anything, just asking a question. :) :thumbup

There must be a lot of bucks in Oklahoma. You guys have it all; super-cheap prices on new Mathews bows and you can take multiple bucks.

I’m figuring out that there are much better places to be a deer hunter than Minnesota!

Four doe all with the bow. Tried for a 5th this past Friday afternoon but someone’s mutt ran em off. Oh well, got plenty of meat (my son has taken one with a rifle). I watched 3 doe late Saturday afternoon with my rifle but other than the challenge of a 200yd shot I thought better of it.

In our area (59C) we can take as many antlerless deer as we want to buy tags for @ $12 each.

    Swithback70,

As I stated, most (all but two) were “management deer.” I’m part of a group that does deer management for the city. Our job is to reduce the huge deer population within the city.
This is legal and being done at the request of the city and with the support of the DNR. All of the deer we take are donated to people in the community.
I might add at this point that the program has been very successful. Last year number of car/deer accidents within the city were reduced 50%.
These hunts, if you can call them that, aren’t sport hunting or trophy hunting. In fact, it often isn’t even fun. Some of the areas we “hunt” are so tight it is intimidating.
For what it’s worth, in many areas of Wisconsin there is an unlimited number of heard control tags available at the price of $2.00 each.
In the following link, I do my “real” hunting in units 2 and 4

6 deer can be taken in OK. Three of which can be bucks. One of the 8 pointers was taken in TX.
