I wanted to see how high your stand is that you have havested a BUCK from with your bow….
Joined: 6/22/2004My option isn’t there. My stands average about 22-24′. I don’t think I have any under 20′. I have to be a little more careful with shot angle, but I started seeing a lot more deer when I moved higher. I get too fidgety on stand and would get busted pretty frequently.I try to go 20 but don’t always make it.

Joined: 2/22/2005Usually 17-20, But I found myself climbing Higher,Lately
Joined: 11/18/2005Last year I hunted no higher than 10′. And harvested a deer. But those set-ups had awesome concelment. This year my lowest is 20′. It all depends on the situation and cover.
Location: IndianaHigher than 20 lower than 40
I too get fidgety… the ONLY way I hunt lower than 20 is if the wind is too strong that I get “sea sick” from being too high… started happening once this year… climbed half way down… much better
Joined: 4/10/2007had to choose 17-20 but I actually go higher.
Joined: 12/12/200425+ depends on canopy and time of the season how high I hunt, I like height, for example this morning 3 doe under my stand for a half hour. sometimes I go 28 to 30 when my strappers stop, and sometimes this is no good due to 2inch trees canopy’s block alot of shots
Joined: 1/28/2007All of mine are 20+I kinda knew 20+ was going to be the mainstay of tree stand height, but was really curious to see who has had success on a buck and at what height below 20′. Thanks everyone who has posted, I appreciete the input.

my best stand in the deep woods (ny state )is only 8 feet high .
this year i got 2 bucks sitting on a cut of 10 inch stump behind bushes, does that count as anything .
so seriously and in mine honest opinion the height of the lucky stand is not a logical question but height to your environment ,surroundings, and cover is the one
remember we all dont hunt in the same identical conditions and places so success for someone at 17-20 is not definetly sucess to others much lower just my 2 cents
good luck everyone
and happy hunting

agree totally. I have shot 5 bucks from a stand that can only be 12 feet up. It has good concealment, thats the thing.
If possible, i like 18 ft.
Joined: 4/11/2007My ladder stand is only 8 foot tall and have taken 4 deer so far.
