    new to me at least.

what i just got is a vintage 1960-1970 Sheridan Blue Streak pellet rifle.  this is a .20 cal.  i got it to add to my turkey hunting fun.  in California, we can legally shoot a turkey with a pellet rifle.  this year, they lowered the caliber to .177!!!  not so sure a .177 could knock a big tom over.  but this .20 can.  it will blow thru the biggest nastiest lemons on my tree.  3 squirrels on my buddies property HATED this gun.

my friends “invented” a turkey hunt thing.  they call it the “california 3 weapons turkey slam”  hahahha..

bow, shotgun, and pellet rifle.  not gonna be easy.

i can shoot dime sized groups at 20 yards.  should be fun.

anyone else into pellet guns?  i can send this gun to MAC-1 and have them really up the power.  and install a suppressor!  hehehe..i do need a rear peep sight.

    pic.

Years ago I had a Sheridan Silver Streak. I packed it around with 4 pumps pre-loaded in it … good for sparrows, mice, etc. … 6 pumps good for squirrel-sized game to 30 yds …8 pumps good for rabbit-sized game to 40 yds.

The Sheridan Blue Streak/Benjamin 392 was/is very accurate for such a simple bolt and short barrel. I always got decent penetration and accuracy with the Sheridan/Benjamin 5mm/.20″ cylindrical pellet. Beeman makes a copper plated Kodiak pellet in 5mm/.20″ which has good penetration on larger game.

I put a cheap Tasco 4x scope made for .22 rifles (50 yd parallax) on my Silver Streak.  Since there is no recoil, no problem using a cheap scope and holding zero.

Not to hijack, but does anyone have any experience with the Marauder?

Not to hijack, but does anyone have any experience with the Marauder?

hijack away!!  i studied the marauder!!  here is what i know.  the rifle is moderately priced.  best bang for the buck in the PCP airgun world.  super accurate, super quiet.  the .25 cal has the better barrel and is supposedly much more accurate than the .22.  different barrel manufacturers i think.

i almost bought one.  here is the rub.  the air supply is big money.  HUGE money.  you can buy a hand pump and you will be pumping up (like a tire pump) to 3000psi which takes about 10-15 mins from what i have read.  and a .25 uses tons of air.  i think you drop 1000psi in 12 – 18 shots.  so if hunting, you will have to repump up to 3000.  good pumps cost more than $100 used.

…..or, you could buy a scuba tank.  tanks are not cheap, nor are the regulators.  a small portable carbon fiber tank will cost about $800 bucks!!  then you need to find a scuba shop to periodically fill the tanks.  big tanks are cheaper used, but carrying a big tank is a PIA.

i did some quick math, and a PCP gun like the M-rod will set you back over $2k to buy in.    rifle, scopes, air supply.  too rich for me at this moment.  i’d rather buy a good .22 rimfire for the money.

bottom line, i want one.  there are some cool videos of guys shooting pigeons at 100 yards with a PCP gun.  amazing stuff.

gj..i do have the Kodiak ammo.  i like how i am not coating my fingers in raw lead.

i do however use some Atlas pellets as well.  both group the same in my gun.  lucky.

Wow! Thanks for the information. That definitely helps me in deciding what NOT to buy at this stage of what would largely be a hobby. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_shocked} (Used to have a .177 and a .22 fore-end pump up – I don’t even remember the makes/models – when I was a kid/teen and loved being able to plink or even “kill stuff” basically in silence and toy with the idea of doing it again.)
