Just wanted to drop in and say hi.  I’ve been busy building rods, and just spent my normal week up in the Quetico.  The forum is still the same slow deal, which really keeps me from visiting.  In fact this is my first time logging in for at least a month.  I hope all is well.

{#emotions_dlg.misc_fishing}  Hey Jeff… was wondering where you went.   Hope everything is going good with your business.

Site traffic is still pretty slow… sometimes I go a week or 2 without logging in but it doesn’t look like things will change so we just go with what we have.

I’ve been kicking around building my own fly rod. When thinking about it, I remembered the spinning rods you built while on the old forum.

That is a heck of a Lake Trout, Brian!

Whitetail Addict:  I’d post some of my new creations, but it takes so long to use the forum, I’d hate to know how long it takes to post pictures.  I’ve done a couple fly rods, and am working on one right now.  They take some time, but the build is similar to that of any other rod I have done.  The satisfaction once the build is done is the best part.

I hear you on the slow forum Jeff. This thing kicked me off this thread twice now. Hopefully the third time is a charm.

I’d like to see the pictures though.

What kind of blank (company and specs) are you using?

After adding up the cost of the sum of the parts for my build, I think I’m farther ahead just buying it from Sage.

I use various brands of rod blanks.  Everything from MHX, to Lamiglas.  It really depends on how much someone wants to spend on a rod.  I get Wholesale costs on my materials, but even so, the Sage line is still expensive.  What you don’t get from buying it somewhere, is the overall satisfaction, nor is the build quality the same.  PM me your email, and we can talk about it more through email, and I will send you some pictures of my newest builds.  I’m working on two fly rods, and three casting rods right now.
