I gotta be honest here. I could care less what he does with his private life.

His indiscretions are between him, his wife and nobody else.

I’m not saying I’m a fan of his. personally, I could take him or leave him. I just can’t stand how the same media that fawned all over him for the past decade now wants to burn him to the stake. They’re nothing but parasites.

And let’s not forget the golfers that bashed him to that same media, either (like Parnevik, etc). These ungrateful jerks saw their winnings more than quadruple since he came on the scene to the point where EVERYONE in the top 125 seems to be a millionaire nowadays (not to mention endorsement $). They forgot awful fast what the tour used to be like from 1994 and before.

I for one don’t want to see tiger break Jack’s record of Majors, but I would LOVE it if he came back and won this Masters just to ram it down everyone’s throats.

Then he can lose every other one :whistle[/quote:xza3euqg]

I agree with most of what you have written Vince. His private life and indiscretions are his own affair (so to speak).

I would like to see him break Jack’s record (although that would certainly not diminish the Golden Bear in my book) because I honestly think Tiger is the best golfer that ever lived and will be for a generation or more to come. I think the competition is broader and stiffer today than in Jack’s heyday. I’ve always admired Tiger for his golfing ability…..his personal life has no meaning to me. Unfortunately, too many [/color:xza3euqg]in our society confuse the terms “hero” and “superstar.” In my mind, heros don’t exist in the sports and entertainment world. Only superstars based on their talent and/or box office appeal.[/quote:xza3euqg]

way too many have gotten confused on this one….

I’m going out on a limb here!! If mayor baryian can keep winning over people in DC as much as he has got in trouble then I don’t see it being a problem for tiger with his screw up!! :^O [=}=]

Step away from the pipe young brah! :^O :^O :^O[/quote:1iufqjr9]

it’s a very favorable comeback tourney; it’s a highly regulated course, and if any of the gallery is being disruptive they will be kicked out. I seriously doubt his golf game has changed, nor has his mental toughness. And Augusta is a favorite course of his, plus Ben Hogan is the only player to ever start his year off at a major, and win. It just adds up…. :-B[/quote:1iufqjr9]

    Agreed young padawan. ;)

And that’s one of the many reasons why I believe he’s a huge COWARD, no if, ands, or buts about it. You’re disruptive and U are removed, just like Tiger likes it. Everything in his control, accept for his despicable personal behavior. So much for his personal life, don’t y’all think that’s more important than hittin a lil white ball around?

Anyone who’s that driven to accomplish a goal will be severely lacking in other areas in life, important areas I might add. His greatness on the links doesn’t dismiss his behavior off of it. Worshiping him or any other celeb or star athlete is questionable in my book to say the least. He may go down as the greatest golfer to ever live, but he’s still a bigger FAKE imho. And I did admire the guy (minus his obvious arrogance) for the most part before the truth came out. Just how I see it, it’s a free country! [=}=]

I have the same view as Vince on his personal life, because I know some non-celebs that have done the same type of stuff, and they never got harrassed by the media. I don’t personally believe that what he did was right, but that stuff is none of my business either.

The fact remains, that he is a great golfer, and will most likely break the Golden Bear’s record. He’s always been arrogant, nothing has really changed on that level.

Everyones personal life is their own business. But when you are a celeb of any sort in the public eye and put up this squeaky clean imagine with the help of the media, then it turns out it was all a farce you are going to be subject to scrutiny from the same media that propped you up in the first place. Simply goes with the territory, and he won’t be able to control things now like he has in the past. That’s a burden he will not be able to escape. ;)

I could care less how great a golfer he is, or whether or not he breaks Jacks record. In my book character and your word are all that matters in the end. Without either you have nothing and cannot consider yourself an honorable person. And you sure as heck shouldn’t portray yourself to the world as being such. If you do, and you are not, and are found out you sure as heck should man up and deal with it. Not run and hide like a coward.

It really cracks me up when people say “he had a lapse in character” about an individual who’s had an indiscretion or worse. You have to have character to have a lapse in it. You either have it or you don’t imho. None of us are perfect, all I am saying is don’t portray yourself as something you are not, you will be found out in the end. Awards don’t make the man, character does! [=}=]

    i hope he wins,

there are people that cheat on their better halves everyday but because they are the averagejoe no one knows about it, its not posted on every tv station. i think his personal life is just that his. but, being he is on tv just like everyone else on tv some people think that his personal life is meant to be blasted to the world.

it must suck to be a popular person on tv or in sports because if you go take a #2 before your done the entire world knows what color it is.
the money must be nice but i dont know if it is worth sacrificing your private life.

    just my :2cents

I’m going to say he either misses the cut or finishes well out of it, and never passes Jack. I think to be as good as he’s been everything has to be clicking. There’s no way he’s so much better than the field that he can deal with his self made personal crisis and still win golf tournaments. Jack himself said this 5 or more years ago. He said something to the effect of let’s see how Tiger handles golf when he has a wife and kids and family to deal with. It’s a whole new ballgame now.

Don’t do it Jeff. Tiger will eventually return to form, but I think the baggage will be to much for even him to carry at the Masters this spring. As many have noted, the steely-eyed, swaggering Tiger is not likely to be the guy who shows up at Augusta. As an aside, it will be interesting to watch the interaction between Tiger and Steve Williams. In addition, it will be a miracle if Williams doesn’t try to kill some “patron” at Augusta who murmurs a snide comment as Tiger walks by.
