I am going to buy TC Encore Pro Staff and I want to buy a rifle barrel for it but I don’t know what caliber to get. So If you would help me with your thoughts on what you would get for whitetail hunting.

The 270cal. Jack Oconner took every big game animal in
north america, and most african animals with it!

It will do an awesome job on whitetail deer. [=}=]

:thumbup And it doesn’t have the kick of a 30.06. I’ve taken deer and hogs both with it, but now I shoot mainly a 30.06. I don’t know why. 8-[

without a doubt it would be the 25.06………plenty of ziiiiiiiiing for any whitetail………without the recoil……..it would make a nice varmint gun also…….. [=}=] :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

I say with the Encore Pro Hunter take the 300Win. It may be overkill for the whitetails but with the Flex-Tech recoil absorbing stock it won’t feel like a 300. I would take the big lead anyday. It is only as overkill as using a compound….. :p

I’m a .270 man myself. Very comfortable to shoot and you’ll have no problems with whitetails or even larger (I wouldn’t try grizzlies :D ) [=}=]

Any will do the trick. I have a .270 but want to get a magnum. Yes, it is overkill for a whitetail but I hunt some pretty swampy area. Its no fun when one runs a couple hundred yards into it.

I’d go with the 280 :thumbup ….it will out do the 270 and will not beat you up like the 30-06,300,, My 2nd choice would be the 25-06. [=}=]

I love the .270 but I voted .280, just a broader application that the gun can handle! :thumbup

I took the .300 Win mag myself. I would want an all around caliber for deer, elk, and any other big game animal here in Colorado. :thumbup

I’d go with the number one seller of all time, the bullet that has taken more North American game than any other round bar none…the 30-06!
