Why is there a harmonic damper and a harmonic damper lite on bows.  I am new to mathews, and I was just wondering if there is a big difference between the two or could you just put harmonic dampers in place of the lite.  Thanks in advance

The original HDs had an aluminum or a brass or a carbide core. The lighter aluminum core was best suited for higher frequency vibrations which usually originated with accessories. The brass and carbide cores were better suited for lower frequency vibrations which originate in the cam and limb oscillations. It was common to use the aluminum HD on the top near the sight and the brass or carbide HD on the bottom near the solocam.

The HS has a very heavy brass core that addresses the high amplitude low frequencies in the long risers associated with the beyond parallel limb bows. These bows were very heavy, so to avoid adding more weight than necessary, the HS-Lite using a much lighter core and a softer elastomer was introduced. The HS-Lite does the same thing using the softer elastomer as the original HS, but without the extra weight.

Then the HD-Lite with the softer elastomer was introduced to further reduce the added weight.

Yes, you can replace the original HD and HS with the HD-Lite and HS-Lite if you want to reduce weight, but they function the same as far as vibration reduction goes.

I just put some new Red Dampers on my creed. I could immediately feel lots of vibration in the riser after the shot. I could not figure out why these new pieces of rubber were sucking the fun out of my bow, I took them out and as i was putting the old ones back in I noticed they felt softer… thought maybe I got some old dry rotted ones, but once again gjarcher has schooled me on why something wasnt working. Does anyone know if mathews makes the softer custom dampers?
To take an animal with a bow is better than taking it with debit card.
