I know we’re all in hunting mode now, but c’mon guys, isn’t anyone interested in what’s going on in the Ryder Cup? The Yanks are ahead 6-4 as I type, but the matches left out on the course could result in a huge swing for the Euros. I still think it will be close and go down to the wire in the singles matches tomorrow. I love watching golf at this level when I don’t have a real “emotional” stake in the outcome. I really don’t care who wins because at the end of the day, there are exceptional golfers in both the U.S. and Europe and the winner of the Ryder Cup is not going to change that fact. (Now, if it was hockey, I would feel a little more commited to the outcome.) ;)

As an aside, I played in a memorial tournament today and one of my playing partners (a friend of mine) is the Chair of the Rules Committee for the Royal Canadian Golf Association. This individual serves as an on-course official at each of the four majors as well as several other PGA tournaments including the Canadian Open. Anyway, he has gotten to know many of the top pros (Tiger, Phil, Vijay, Stricker, Harrington, Furyk, Couples, Goosen, Westwood, etc., etc.) on the course over the past four years and shared some very interesting stories about the personalities of these folks. In some cases, his interactions with these guys matched my own (media created) impressions of certain players. In other cases, I was completely shocked to listen to what he had to say about their behaviour in his interactions with them on the course. It was a bit of an eye opener for sure and some of these guys are definitely masters of impression management for public consumption. For what it’s worth, Tiger is one of the most respectful golfers towards the on-course officials.

I’m with you Alan. Hard for me to pull for a men’s team dressed like that.

You know the old saying: “It takes a real man to wear pink.” Actually, I thought the lavender colour was kind of neat. Obviously, you guys are way too young to remember the colours and styles of golf pants, etc. back in the 70′s and 80′s. If you didn’t like plaid searsucker pants, you simply weren’t allowed to play. :D

Larry, I’d probably dress like Liberace and carry a candleabra if I had to in order to play golf. But I ain’t doing it voluntarily. :^O :^O

We have 4 of the 5 top ranked players in the world, they have the other and he has been off for a month. Paddy is no good at all any more, has not won in 2 years and not a single Ryder cup match since 2004. If DJ and Bubba hit fairways it will be a runaway win, with their length and a soft but long course they will be firing at pins all day long.

Yeah, but these top ranked players “mailed it in” on Sunday. Pathetic!! 8-|

“In my time – 20 years since I’ve been playing Ryder Cup – this is one of the greatest days for European golf we’ve ever had,” European captain Colin Montgomerie said. “To run a two-point deficit into a three-point lead was quite amazing. To stop America from winning a match, just fantastic.”

I knew it would come down to the final match. Didn’t I say that? Eh? :-B

(My agent is accepting all congratulatory messages for the incredible insight and golf knowledge I displayed in predicting how this would turn out). :p

I think it may be time to consider Brandel Chamblee’s suggestion that the American team be expanded to include North America. I would rather have Canadians trying to make a Ryder Cup team than a President’s Cup team. Oh well.
