The .308 is a good round, but I think overall the .270 can’t be beat. I shot my first 2 rifle bucks with a .270 and my Red Stag from New Zealand with the .270. It can reach out there for a poke if you need it to, and it can do everything up close just as well. Might also check out a .280…
Hey brother ya can’t go wrong with either choice………of the 2 i would go with the .270………but my first choice would be a 25.06……just my …the 25.06 is perfect for deer size game and varmints and such……lighter recoil….Hmmmmmmm i forgot……for someone your size…..that wouldn’t be much of a factor…..
you might look at a wildcat round it is a 6.5 by .270 fast accurat and very flat shooting my dad has a custom one make with 30″ barrell and it drives nails.. it will shoot a quarter inch group at 200yards…. he just shot a doe with it at 530yards last week during Oklahoma’s season.. doe went straight down…
