The .308 is a good round, but I think overall the .270 can’t be beat. I shot my first 2 rifle bucks with a .270 and my Red Stag from New Zealand with the .270. It can reach out there for a poke if you need it to, and it can do everything up close just as well. Might also check out a .280… [=}=]

Hey brother ya can’t go wrong with either choice………of the 2 i would go with the .270………but my first choice would be a 25.06……just my :2cents…the 25.06 is perfect for deer size game and varmints and such……lighter recoil….Hmmmmmmm i forgot……for someone your size…..that wouldn’t be much of a factor…..

you might look at a wildcat round it is a 6.5 by .270 fast accurat and very flat shooting my dad has a custom one make with 30″ barrell and it drives nails.. it will shoot a quarter inch group at 200yards…. he just shot a doe with it at 530yards last week during Oklahoma’s season.. doe went straight down…

any good shooter pratices there shots first before hunting….
    he made a drop chart..

I shoot a .270 but if you reload, then you’d have more choices with a .30 caliber bullet (if you want the flexibility). My :2cents

Either would be a good choice. I voted .270 because I know several people that have had great results with it.
