I’m a long time advocate of Mechanicals. I really like the Rage and Rocket Steelheads. I use the Steelheads right now, and cannot see myself switching any time soon! [=}=]

I like a durable fixed head for deer myself, but I do have some 3 blade rage heads on standby to rip up a turkey in may :thumbup

I am new to the expandable world! Started using them just this last fall! Had one good exp. and one bad exp. I will be trying the Rage 3-blade this spring for turkey. If they do as good as many say they do, I will use them for deer. My fixed blade history has been long and Thunderheads have never let me down! If I go back to fixed blades, I will try Slik Trik as I have heard many good reports on these! This sport is a constant learning experiance! For me it’s all about being as quick and humane to the animal/bird whatever, I’m hunting!! Whatever you pick make sure it’s scary sharp, and you can hit where your aiming with it!! [=}=]

this will be my first year with mechanicals and i will be shooting Rage BH’s, most likely the 2 blade version, so much damage upon entry and exit, and if i like them i will stick with the Rages. i have no problem with fixed blades either. its all about placement [=}=]

I love my Hypershocks 3 for 3 with Mechanicals. All good short bloodtrails. I was never a beleiver until I tried. My Muzzys used to put em down good but I like change.

I have to tell you that a lot of people don’t care for expandables. I believe that the biggest reason for this is a resistance to change. I have used Steelheads for many years and I have to tell you they are a great head :thumbup

Whatever you can shoot accurately and make an ethical shot with. The main advantage that I see advertised with mechanical is “field point accuracy”. IMO, if you tune your bow and have the proper arrow combo you can get that accuracy from many fixed blades.

Depends on what I’m shooting at. Turkey = Mechanical. Deer is a toss up. Hogs and Elk = fixed.
