I am shooting Gold Tip pro hunter 7595s and seem to have a hodgepodge of field points that are either smaller than the shaft or larger than the arrow diameter. Would someone please share with me the correct diameter field point for this arrow shaft?
Nope, Gold Tip EZ Pull points for the standard .246 shafts (Hunter-series) comes in three sizes, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32. Technically, the 5/16″ GT EZ-Pull mics at .312 where the point meets the insert, but mics at just over 21/64″ (.339″) at the largest o.d. Any 5/16″ FP fits the Hunter-series shafts using GT’s standard .246 insert.
However, I like the PDP EZ Pull point better than GT”s for several reasons; 1) It is available in more point weight options (75gr to 300gr), 2) It is less damaging to targets, 3) it is available in an 11/32″ largest o.d. version that tapers to 5/16″ heavyweight/High-FOC and for a larger scoring advantage. The PDP EZ Pull point is similar in shape to the GT .246 Glue-in Point. The PDP EZ Pull point is 5/16″ where it meets the insert, but technically is a 21/64″ or 11/32″ point for scoring rules at the largest o.d. http://www.lancasterarchery.com/pdp-easy-pull-points.html
I use both the GT .246 insert and the PDP GT insert in the Hunter 7595 shafts, both are tapered to 5/16″. I prefer the PDP GT insert because they are less expensive than the GT inserts and the PDP weight system is less expensive than the GT weight system. http://www.lancasterarchery.com/pdp-tapered-inserts.html
