i want to start fletching my own i would have to get a fletcher that does six at oncemaybey i should move to edmonton we only have one shop here that knows anything about archery but you have to get the right guy
I like to know exactly what goes into each of my arrows so that if something goes wrong, I have no one to blame but myself.
Joined: 6/12/2006I’ve been trying to build my own…. LOL it’s lots of fun
Joined: 3/16/2005You know it’s a little of both…. it just depends on what kind of time I have at the pro shop.I make my own and because I’m extra picky but my wife says I’m just anal retentive.
Joined: 1/31/2005I make my own, have for years. There really is no other way.(for me)
Joined: 1/10/2006Bought my first six, then I got into making my own. This way, I can assure consistency on everything from the cutting length, squareness, fletching placement, etc, etc, etc ..Unlike Lineboss1, My wife didn’t have to tell me that I’m anal retentive……….I knew it already……I guess it is a habit from when I learned to reload, as well as tie my own drift rigs……..I know that if I follow the procedures and stick to a strict guideline and observe what I’m doing, I can rule out consistency as a problem of accuracy issuesI’m like Nippers, I reload my own ammo, built my own fishing poles and rigs and now make my own arrows. I guess it’s because I’m……ok, I’ll admit it, I’m CHEAP[/b:2examcfa]! I figured if I made my own stuff, I’d be saving money (of course, I’m spending a lot more buying all the materials in bulk but then I can make more ) Naturally when the wife asks…it’s all about quality control and pride of ownership

I’ve never told anyone I know that I reload because it’s cheaper…….I always tell them it’s because I can tailor the round to my rifle, and get the best accuracy possible……….I try not to settle for anything more than a 1/2″ group at 100yds for my bullets But I am CHEAP……..at least when it comes to a lot of things, but not my gear………or equipment. I do spend a lot of time looking for the best deal thoughI enjoy it and I’m too picky. I want all my fletching the same color and still use 5″ vanes and aluminum arrows To me archery is such a personalized sport and while that makes it hard on pro shops to stock equipment it gives the end user thousand of options customize his rig
