In my case i find them very lucky, because i did not have a doe tag for all the one i have seen, and yesterday i was muzzle loader hunting, see a deer crossing a road going for a field of corn, put a cap in the gun,put the cross right on it ,pull the trigger, click! pull back the hammer again and pull the trigger, click! What the “/$%?&.Open the muzzle loader, the cap have fall down at the beginning when a try to putting it in the gun,and i did not noticed!
So for me,i have see over 20 deer during deer hunting season, they have been only lucky, not wise at all!

I believe the word you are looking for is “warry.” Wisdom is beyond the scope of most herbavores. It does not take a rocket scientist to stalk a shrub! That being said up to this point deer have been to warry for me to out think… (It is not a very flattering statement about me!)
After giving that question considerable thought, I would have to say that they are both. They aren’t dumb by no means. Seems like when you think they are coming in, something makes them stop. They stop and freeze and after what seems and eternity, they walk off in another direction. Whether is being wise or being smart or having a 6th sense, they seem to know.
