I just picked up a Mathews Chill from a friend and I was wondering if the draw lengths run true or long..? The DL is too short for me to get a good feel for the true DL….Right now it has 26.5″  “H” mods on it that are the standard Chill mods Im guessing ( kinda mushy backwall). I want to get some 85% Rock Mods for it and I want the DL to be as close to 28 1/4″ as possible without going over…..Should I get the 28″ “E” Rock mods or the 27.5″ “F” Rock mods to get it to fall where I need ( 28.25″)……Thanks for the help fella’s….

The rocks are very close to true length, go with the 28″, I think it will be perfect for you.

If the back wall feels mushy, the Cams likely are not in synch at full draw, a common problem caused when using down cable actuated rests. If the cams are not synched, you can have up to a ±¼” in DL difference when they are. Do a Creep Tune to check. http://unofficialatfaq.tripod.com/creep_tuning.htm

To get a True DL measurement without using a draw board, while at full draw have someone mark an arrow shaft at the center of the berger hole. Measure from the nock groove to the mark and add 1¾”. Fine tune DL ±¼” from there using cables and/or string twists/untwists

FWIW, I shoot a 28¼” True DL and dealer supplied me info that the 28 Rock Mods run about 28¼” on the X, R, and Chill. Back off a 70# Chill about two turns (65~66 lbs) and the DL increases about 1/8″ ~ 3/16″…something to factor in.

If the bow is to be shot at lower DW during the off season (3D etc.), purchasing an extra set of 27.5″ Rock Mods may be a good choice to maintain a True 28″ DL.

Thanks Brian for the info. The Dealer didnt have neither the 27.5″( F)  or  28″ (E) in 85% in stock…both are ordered. Its killing me to have the bow here and not be able to shoot it. Tomorrow Im gonna try and put all the access. on it and have it ready when the mods come in….
