Michael Vick gave an excellent speech on Monday. It was completely off the cuff (no notes or pre-written script). He talked about how immature his behavior was and that he recognizes he needs to grow up. He talked about how he realizes now that he is a role model to children and that kids should use his behavior as a role model of what not to do. He said he has found the Lord and has asked Him for forgiveness. He plans to take his prison time (however much it is) to think about what he’s done and begin working to redeem himself, that he has to.

I am, by nature, sceptical of people who suddenly “find Jesus” when they are faced with prison time, so I’m taking a wait and see attitude with him. He’s a scared little boy right now, so he’s liable to say anything, but it was very apparent he gave his speech a lot of thought and spoke from the heart. I hope, for his sake, it’s for real.

This is America………. people will be feeling sorry for him in no time. It already started yesterday after he apologized and people started “You could tell that wasn’t rehearsed and that he was sincere about it”……… “That makes you see a human side to him, not just the vicious dog killer that we’ve been seeing for the last couple of months”

Apologize all you want, that doesn’t change what you did scum bag, but as I said, this is America and there are plenty of people out there who are going to forgive him :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

mom, i voted that he is to spoiled. if ya put him on a desert island all by himself, then he can change. but, if he hangs with his “posse”, forget it.

he does deserve a second chance, but it will take a very long time and he has to make life changing decisions to redeem himself. but most people do deserve a right to make up for the wrong they have done.

What I noticed in his speech was the fact that not once did he say “what I did was WRONG”. All he ever said was he was immature.

I don’t think he feels like he did anything wrong.

As for the “found Jesus” part, I’m amazed at how many people facing prison find Jesus. Maybe the fed’s should charge every non-believer and we could have a mass conversion? I’m with Ava on this one, I’ll take a wait and see stance.

EH, no… I watch the interviews of people feeling sorry for him, heck if anyone else did it (like me) who would feel sorry for me? No one, it is my actions that put me in the predicament, and the same goes for Vick. Goodell seems very adament about Vicks suspension, and because Vick lied to the NFL and his team… [=}=]

I’ll admit to a fair amount of skepticism, too. He has a long track record of obnoxious behavior and is at risk of losing millions of dollars and going to the slammer.

On the other hand, as one who deals with people in crisis on a regular basis, the truth is that many–if not most[/i:t705g580] people who come to genuine faith in Christ do so through some type of crisis (though admittedly not typically as public as is Vick’s!). Crisis is the best motivator for change! So if the question is whether or not Vick’s change is possibly[/i:t705g580] genuine, the answer is a resounding “YES” in my opinion.

On the other, other[/i:t705g580] hand, it’s also worth noting that Jesus never offers any measure of faith based on some one time decision, but rather on the follow-through and longevity of that decision.

    Who cares?
Why not just flush him down the toilet of public opinion and forget about him?
All the preoccupation and attention given to celebraties in this country
is what gives them “status” and provides them with more wealth.
When I hear guys of his questionable character
    make televised remorseful statements
“to redeem his image” like him
all I want to do is
    :smt50
