    Just saw these pics on another forum. I guess it’s a sign of the times, but I was skeptical at first. However, a number of trusted and “in touch” forum members, including Mods, verified its authenticity. I think it was killed in Holmes County, OH, but I’ll keep checking and post when I get more info. Now let’s see if I can figure out how to post pics here. Had it down pat the old way. OK, here goes!

    OH 22pt 2013 !OH 22pt 2013 2

    OK, it seems to have worked. apparently the deer is a 22 pt non-typical that grosses about 256!

    It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.

    That’s a true monster buck and I have seen this picture in several places and each time I’m amazed. That buck looks to be a high fence stud since there are several Amish farms up there that raise deer. Not saying it is just looks to be a stud breeder buck.

    Thanks for chiming in, cornfed. After doing some more checking I decided to chime back in and bring this puppy back “to the top”. Yes, this buck was shot in Wayne Cty., not far from the city of Wooster, OH. The hunter, “Buck” Owen (could any name be more perfect?), has been after him for a couple of years. The reason there hasn’t been a big hullabaloo over this buck is that the story has been “sold” to North American Whitetail magazine and will appear in an early 2014 edition. From all indications it was truly wild, free range deer.

    Interestingly, one early comment on the thread on the OGF (Ohio Game Fishing) forum went something like this;

    I can just hear the jealous comments now.
    “It was photoshopped.”
    “The pic is from Kansas.”
    “It was a high fence hunt.”
    “It’s a pen raised deer.”
    What did I miss?

    It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.

    Glad you cleared up that question I submitted and that makes that one heck of a old stud buck and hope it’s genes were sown all over in that county.
