i’m going to try the 125 grain 2-blade buzzucts this year. these are 0.048″ thick which is respectable (versus 0.040″ thick for the 100 grainers). read lots and lots of good things about these and am looking forward to trying them out.

Im not sure I agree with all the talk, and not just on here, about needing a 2 blade coc head when you are in the 50# range in order to get the penetration necessary for cleanly taking deer. They certainly do the job without question. However, I never had a problem getting complete pass throughs with a 27 inch draw pulling 50# when I started bowhunting. Its all about choosing a head with sharp blades and shot placement.

If you are looking for a fixed head I would second the vpa terminators. However their 100grn heads do have vented blades as someone else said they didn’t. They also don’t whistle as some have had that issue with montecs. If you are still open to mechanicals I would pick up a pack of Grim Reapers. Read around on their website some. Plenty of folks with less KE than you are getting complete pass throughs with them.
You are pulling plenty of weight, and yes even with that short draw there is no reason unless you want to, to feel the need to shoot a 2 blade head. You aren’t trying to shoot through 2 deer, and with a good sharp broad head I would be expecting pass throughs every time with well placed shots with your setup. Not at 40 yards of course.

This is my personal experience, and I know some will disagree.

They make a new non-vented 100 grain Terminator. They also just came out with a new 2 blade, The Penetrater. That is a sweet 2 blade.

By the way, there is a point on the curve where KE gained produced by SPEED will match the KE of heavier arrows that are slower. it doesn’t hold the KE at longer distances but how many people shoot deer past 30 yards IN THE WOODS? I like the speed issue because of the jumpy deer. 293fps, 366.5 gr arrow, 70.2 KE., DW 58#

I am going to go with the Grim Reaper broad heads this year and this will be the first time I have not used a fixed head in my 18 years of bow hunting but I want to try a broad head that I don’t have to change my setup for and has good down range accuracy so I am hoping this will all workout for the better. What do you guys think any help would be really appreciated. :D

I stand corrected then. I was only aware of the vented 100grners. They all look like well built heads to me.

Other would be the Wasp 100gn boss. Good and in-expensive as well as easy to tune. Can’t beat em’ as far as I am concerned.

Thanks guys, this has helped alot. So Eliminate expandables, go with a thicker 2-blade broadhead, should be good.
