Raw shafts- Can not find raw shafts locally anywhere. Eveything is pre-fletched. I am going to have to order them or buy them online to get raw shafts.
Fletchings- I love Bohning 4″ Killers vanes, can’t find them. Seems like everything has went to the Blazer style vanes. Have found a couple of places to buy 4″ Killer vanes but only packs of 100 and only a couple of colors. Seems like the industry has really shifted to the little vanes…….and I still like the old 4″ vanes after trying the Blazers.
Seems like I will have to buy super skinny arrows and blazer vanes before long or stock up on what I like now ! Like I say……..turning into an old guy I guess !!
I really just mean that times are changing. It looks like the new “norm” is buying pre-fleched arrows and replacing them with Quick Fletch type set ups when you need to re fletch. Kind of a sad day for me to realize that buying raw shafts at the local archery store and 4″ vanes is a thing of the past ! Much like when I used to read the posts from the old “dyed in the wool” guys that complained about availability of aluminum arrows and 5″ vanes fading away !! Of course I didn’t care at the time because I thought carbon arrows and shorter vanes were the ticket!
4″ vanes are not that easy to locate on the internet, with the exception of ebay. I did pick up some and got some arrows while I was at it. But really thought some of the big archery places online would have plenty of the Killer vanes….I was wrong though. They have tons and tons of Blazer style vanes ! Super skinny carbons seem to be taking over too ! I didn’t realize Gold tip had come out with some! Laying off for two years…..things have changed !
