    Getting ready for my first AR build. I need information! I need suggestions on where to get parts and accessories, what to look for and what to avoid. The more information I can get the better.

    Check out AR15.com.  They have a classified section that has all the parts you need.  It also has all the info you need.  Stay away from the cheap stuff.  And read a lot of reviews and such before committing on parts.  And beware, ARs are highly addicting.  I bought one, now I have most of the parts for 2 more….{#emotions_dlg.mathews_doah}

    The one I like the most belongs to a friend that is with a S.W.A.T team. Flat top with a different collapsible stock  than most guns have and railed forend. Really don’t know how to describe what I want but I know it when I see it.

    things like stocks and quad rails can be relatively cheap,and mostof your ar’s now are flat-top,my bushmaster patrolman is a flat top with removable carry handle with a troy quad-rail.i love this gun and have never had any problems with it,the only fuss i have with it,it doesnt have a full auto bolt carrier,however i will be ordering a BCM as soon as they get them in stock,as soon as my wal-mart start getting them in again i will be buying a colt le6920.as the old saying goes you cant beat the A,B,C of AR’S,(armalite,bushmaster,colt) however i had the chance recently of playing with a windham weaponery AR. very well built has all the high end things,except for quad rail of course.but unless you have a bunch of parts just laying around your not going to save any money buy building one.i know many who have learned the hard way.But good luck with whatever you do.

    Let’s see some pics of it. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_cool}

    I just picked up a new barrel this morning.  Plus some other stuff.  I’ve bought so much AR stuff lately that I’m not sure what all I have coming.  I just need to find a stripped lower and I’ll be set to build….{#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    Im also about to start a build but Im waiting a little longer on the price to soften.  In my area, the complete rifles at the local gun shops already have started to come down to pre-panic numbers.  Once the lower I want to start with gets back in the $150 range Ill start acquiring parts.
    Mine will be a mid length gas, 16″ pipe, 1 in 7 twist.  That will be the base.  Also prob run it to start with a standard battle group trigger to get some rounds thru it and upgrade the trigger later.

    Also, ammo in my area (and some others) Ive been finding under .50 ea which aint back to normal but a LOT better than what some well known ammo web sites (caugh caugh – cheaper than dirt) are stabbing people with.
