Bow, gun, muzzleloader, air rifle – whatever I have the opportunity to legally use in a hunting season.

Bow is far and away my favorite, but archery-only hunting limits the possible experiences. For instance, turkey hunting with gun and bow are so different that I’d hate to have to give up one or the other as a “purist”.

I love bow hunting but when gun season and muzzelloader season rolls around I take them. Our bow season comes back around in the late season so I start and end with a bow.

Like others have said: Deer season (for me in both WV & OH) is more about friends & family & sometimes – filling the freezer.

I just got back into Bowhunting last season , have used my ultra trusty Win .308 model 70 for the previous 3 years. Don’t think I’ll pick it up this year but after that I’ll take a deer with it during gun season of course . Just because my grandfather gave it to me. Pulled it out this past weekend lookin for them stupid yotes :^O :^O

Other than that I’m addicted sumin fierce I’ll bow hunt everyday I can this season and probably will till the end of days :smt43 :smt43

Bow only in Minnesota but I do shotgun hunt deer in Iowa. It’s either that or I wouldn’t be hunting where I do in Iowa. Not a hard decision for me to make. But like the original post, I too am wearing blaze orange and sitting with my bow among 250,000 rifle hunters in November. I’ve never been given a hard time about it though.

I will also take the shotgun out for bird hunting with Ranger if that counts.

I’m no purist. I like both. However, I have bow-only hunted for the last 5 years mainly because I just love it so much. Another reason is also because I have a system with my pack and equipment geared for bow hunting and I get all out of wack when I try to change up for gun hunting.
My buddies quit giving me a hard time a few years ago when I doubled on two large does one evening with my bow during muzzleloader and they got nothing.

At of all the animals I hunt I spend the least amount of time chasing deer.

Birds small game and varmint I use a gun.

I will jump at the chance to hunt big game with a gun or bow I enjoy using both.

Although there is nothing like spot and stalking hogs with a bow ;)

I dont want the gun hunters to misunderstand. I in no way think there is anything wrong with gun hunting and I dont carry around that “Purist” mentality. Ive met a few of those and I aint one of them.My buddies would kick my butt.:D
I just dont do it because my mother was right!~ I am a Hard Head! :^O
I love this stuff although I have ended more than a couple seasons with the Heartache of “Not quite close enough” ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
Very interesting results so far though seems split down the middle.

I am a bow only hunter. If I can’t get it done with my bow then I guess I am not gettin’ it done. Several hunts I have been on out of state, I have had the option of taking a gun for a back up. I only take my bow. It is a personal choice-my daughter just killed her first black bear with a 243 :thumbup

Just in case you missed the pictures on the nonarchery forum :p

bow, gun, just as long as your hunting :thumbup

I’m a bow only person. I don’t know it’s just something about it. Except for the dove I have all but abandoned the gun.

    Here is a thought.
I di not hunt for meat just the challenge. Where i hunt I can always get a deer with a gun.
the bow hunt makes you get closer, you can’t make a mistake
    its more challenging

I came up hunting with what the season dictated, loved em all. The last several years I’ve hunted 98% bow, in orange when required…the only exception being a day or two a year toting the ML… mostly cuz i never shot a deer with it- still [-o|

I’m no purist- I own rifles, shotguns and the ML… just lately I’ve really totally enjoyed shootin the bow. Easy as that.

“why do I want to buy a shirt that says Basspro across the front of it? When I go to Walmart I don’t buy a Walmart shirt...” -outta the mouths of babes...
