    I’m catching what I can. Watching the US/Canada women’s hockey right now. Goal tending for both teams has been outstanding. US just stuck one in! I’m not a hockey nut and I’d rather watch college or women’s rather than the NHL which is constant body checking. There’s not as many events in winter vs. summer, but they do seem to spend too much time on any particular venue, but if you don’t want to watch it, you don’t have to.

    It was a good game by both teams. Nice to see the good guys (gals) pull it out though. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}What can I say…..I bleed the maple Leaf! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}

    Did you just say you are a bleeding maple leaf?

    Well, get ready to bleed some more, my friend! It’s happening on Thursday. USA vs Canada for the women’s hockey gold medal! And the USA women are just flat out beasts! However, I mean that in the nicest, most complimentary, way! I’m sure that the Canadian women are just as beastly!

    It also looks as though the USA and Canadian men’s hockey teams are on a collision course as well. It somehow seems apropos that the country that invented hockey is wearing the bullseye on their sweaters once again!

    It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.

    I love and hate watching Olympic hockey. Love it because my country is playing. Hate it because it’s a one-loss-and-your-out format. Unfortunately, upsets can definitely happen in those one-shot affairs. GO CANADA! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_smile}

    No doubt! It was close to an upset today. 2 to 1 late over Latvia? However, I did hear on the radio during the course of the game that the Canadians were dominating every aspect of play in the game but the score. So, the collision course continues. USA men romp over the Czech Republic 5-2! And tomorrow should be very interesting!

    I heard some sports radio screamer today saying he’d be more interested in the USA’s hunt for the hockey gold medal if the game came down to the USA vs Russia. That’s one point of view, but, when it comes down to the ultimate challenge, how can you not hope for a matchup against the country that invented hockey!

    It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.

    Women's Olympic Gold Medal - 2014

    It was a great game and I admire the effort and skill of both the Canadian AND the American gals (Yankettes?). {#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}

    All I saw was when the game was into OT and the US got the cross-checking penalty.  At that point I figured the game was over.  Maybe I’ll catch a replay.  Congrats to our neighbors to the north.  We’ll get ya!  (hopefully)

    And that, my friends, is all she wrote. Hate to sound too parochial, but Canada just dominated that game. Wooooohooooo! It was the most exciting 1-0 game I have ever seen (well, if you fly the Maple Leaf that is). {#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}

    It’s only hockey.  Need to make “American football” an Olympic sport.

    Wow! We’re shut out! No chance for a gold in either women’s or men’s hockey. What a bummer! A tip of the cap to the Canadians. They hung tough and got it done. Well, the USA women took silver and the men have a chance for the bronze.

    And for NC Thin Dawg, don’t worry. Golf is coming back to the Olympics in the summer games in Brazil! We gon’ whup ‘em then!

    Y’all may be right on that count. Years ago, in the 1980s I think, one of the top-ranked U.S. college football teams played a top-ranked Canadian university team. The game was in Toronto I believe. Anyway, the first half was played by Canadian rules and the second half by American rules. At the end of the first half, the Americans were leading but the score was very close. By the fourth quarter, the American size and talent simply dominated the Canadian team and the Yanks took the game easily. It was fun to watch. Hopefully, we will never catch up to the Americans in football or basketball because that would mean less young Canadians getting into hockey.
