    I’m building another AR.  This one will be in 300 AAC Blackout.  A friend of mine has one in 300 BO and loves it.  .308 bullet in an AR-15 platform for a lot cheaper than and AR-10.  I know the distance isn’t there (up to 150 yards or so).  I hardly ever shoot further than 100 to 150 anyways.  Plans are for a Hog and/or deer gun.  I will be reloading for the 300 BO as ammo is costly.  I currently reload for .45 ACP, .308 WIN, and .223/5.56.

    I currently have a 5.56 NATO with 20 inch barrel and a Nikon P-223 Scope.  I also have a .223 WYLDE with a 16 inch barrel and an EOTech Sight.

    Any thoughts or comments on this caliber (300 BO) ????  Parts have been ordered ! !

    I also have a plain AR in .5.56 that I’m giving to a family member for Christmas.  I have a ATI AR in .22 LR which is fun to shoot.  Free when I bought the plain AR.

    300 AAC is supposed to be sweet, I’m deciding between it and 6.8 for my next build. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_peace}

    Yup,
    I love mine.  Me and Lil KTM assembled one nearly two years ago and I really like it.  Most of the Black Gun Society will tell you not to waste your time if you dont want to run surpressed/sub-sonic or re-load.  Puh-leeze!  I wanted to build a new AR and wanted to be a little different and a co-worker told me about the .300AAC.
    Like you, I built it to hunt deer/hogs with it.  It shoots amazingly well groups at 100 yds.  Better than some bolt guns Ive seen and my PH Encore.  Mine is a carbine gas and Im running an A2 stock with carbine buffer, spacer and spring.  It ran pretty well with the rifle buffer set up but I switched everything out for piece of mind.
    We run a 30rd G2 P-Mag cut down to 10 round cap (no rules in Alabama about hunting with high cap mags unless you are on public land) it just stays out of the way better. Its got a 12″ Ranier Floater tube and is topped with a Louie Vari X II 4x14x40 AO that I had lying around.

    Weve taken numerous hogs with it and maybe 4 deer.  The last was a decent Alabama 8pt that weighed 170lbs and I got him right at 200yds.  I did have to put several in him as the first knocked him down and he walked off favoring the off side shoulder (bow shot).  Managed to get another in him as he exited the plot and in entered back in the guts.  We found him bedded about an hour later about 30yds off the plot and I got a few more in him then.  Those were all with the Hornady 110gr V Max.  I think I could have done better with the Barnes TAC-X but Lil KTM had taken a doe at 120yds the weekend before with the same load and it did a fine job.
    Anywho, I love it and it shoots fantastic.  Would I want it to be my sole hunting rifle? No.  But then again, who wants only one rifle?{#emotions_dlg.mathews_wink}

    Yep, supposed to be one of the better ones to silence with a silencer as well.

    I’m a big fan for sure but I don’t know much about them except that mine is fun to shoot and I can go through some ammo in a hurry.  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    The blackout has been quite the buzz around here, too. If you build one, let us know what you think, Mark. I’d be interested to know your impression. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    They are supposed to be impressive suppressed and SBRed.  They were designed that way as a short distance round.  But I’ve  heard really good things about them out to 200 plus yards.  I think I’ll try one out once the ammo comes back around a little.  I don’t really want to start down the reloading road right now…  I’m thinking about a 5.45 due to the cheapness of the ammo…{#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}
    The end is near....

    I thought about building one,But after reading more into it the 300 seemed a bit anemic. I figured if you want something with a more punch than 223/5.56 go with the 308,ammo is cheaper,and more readily available,plus I already have everything to reload a 308.Now if I wanted the ultimate AR-hog stopper I would go with the 450 socom or the 450 bushmaster.
