Another thread got me to thinking about how some people come on a forum that Mathews puts out for us on their dime and puts up an avatar with a competitors logo or even a corporate logo of a competitor in their signature. Isnt that kinda like, I dont know, crass in a way. I know people use Mathews avatars on AT, even though I took mine off its still a different kinda animal over there. Dont get me wrong, I see putting what you shoot in plain old text down in your signature fine if thats your bag but I dont know.

In some ways yes, in some ways no. I voted yes, but I think it can go either way. The people whom voted no, probably won’t speak up. I don’t think people should be forced to use an Avatar that is Pro Mathews, but what I never have liked is a person who comes and pushes a certain brand. Everyone can choose what bow they prefer, but to push bows on people just makes me mad.

I don’t know, its hard to type out what I am trying to say… #-o

I agree, my avatar isn’t currently a Mathews logo, but it has never been a competiting bow company.
It was Rocket Aeroheads at one time, but that’s not a bow co. (well not until bought out by Escalade, which owns Bear)

Anyway, on Mathews site I will either have a avatar like my English Bulldog or whatever, but not Bowtech, Hoyt ect… Doesn’t seem right.

This is Mathew’s site …not ArcheryTalk
So I kinda agree with you.

I don’t care what bow anyone shoots just as long they are shooting. [=}=]

dontcha hate that Jeff, you know exactly what you want to say in your brain but cant form the words…

i dont mind myself what kind of avatar anyone uses. i hope they enjoy there brand that they shoot and shoot well with it, just dont push it on me and others if we dont want to hear it. here its just a little harder for the very loyal Mathews fans with the avatars cuz this is the “Mathews” forums, not AT, not the Hoyt forums, not the Bowtech forums…if they have one. so i could see how some could feel a little upset or insulted when they see an avatar on here stating “Bowtech-Refuse to Follow” in it but personally i feel to each his own. just enjoy it what your shooting and dont bash others for what they shoot :thumbup :thumbup

I am going to say your wrong.

To me personally its fine. I think competition helps drive the archery business, without it we would of been fine with the Mathews Standard. As members of this forum I believe its our duty to help people find what is best for them If some one likes to shoot a bowtech, for whatever reason is unclear to me :^O , by golly let them shoot the bowtech and express it. Maybee sombody will stumble upon this site and see the bowtech avatar and go shoot one and happen to like it over a mathews. Stranger things have happened, like…..ummmmm…………well I can’t think of anything right now but it could happen.

I agree. Not trying to sound like a “fan boy” or bash any other brands, but imagine what would happen if one of us were to sho wup on a Bowtech or Hoyt forum with a Mathews avatar #-o

No, I don’t think it matters if someone has an avatar with a corporate logo in it. They’re allowed here no matter what. Honestly I don’t have a problem with it, there’s Hoyt/Bowtech/etc shooters on this forum, if they want to use an avatar focused on their bow company, so be it. We’re fine with that. Some other bow company forums may not be, but we’re fine with it.

I’m primarily on this site because I shoot a Mathews bow, however, folks on this site seem to be very mature and display good Outdoorsman comeradery. Other forums I have been on seem to have a lot of bashing about choice of equipment.

What I value the most is the tuning and setup info that you guys have shared with me. I have used this info to set up my bow to perfection. By myself. Thank you so much. Everyone.

I don’t realy care what you guys shoot. Thats your business. I value your opinions on the gear you have used and your field testing results. It saves me money and allows me to make informed decisions.

If you want to put your avatars up go ahead. It doesn’t bother me in the least.

    Good luck hunting.

Hypothetically speaking, and you dont have to answer, but say you and your brother drop a lot of cash on a forum of your own. And then I come in with a BIG Lancaster Archery logo for a Sigline and an Avatar how would you feel?

Dont get me wrong, shoot what you want. Im glad not everyone shoots a Mathews because I couldnt imagine what they’d be selling for. I just think its like showing up at a convention wearing a big bright Honda Shirt and Hat that was put on by Yamaha and eating the free food and staying in the free hotel room they give you.

    Jason,
i know what your saying but… if these were NOT public forums i could understand it. as ,in your hypothetical, if we had one and it was public, we really couldn’t stop it, right?
Heck i shoot a Jennings….. so should i not be allowed on this site? it’s kind of like saying you can’t talk here because you don’t shoot this or that.

personally i don’t give a rats behind what anyone shoots as long as it works for them, you or me.
as far as being on here, i look at it this way. if your going to be here, or any other board, you have a right to promote anyone you have had good dealings with … BUT… if your not going to allow one type of banner or sigline or Logo, you should allow them all and not single out any certain one’s that not to be allowed and another to be.

i just like to help other archers….. be it stick bow, crossbow or compound.. i’ll share what i have for knowledge to anyone and i’m sure i’ll learn a few tricks here and there from all you guys as well.

    IT’s ALL GOOD!… ;)

I agree 100%. That’s why my avatar doesn’t necessarily correspond with what I am currently shooting.
