Sat a couple hours Saturday morning and froze my butt off. Colder than I thought it was. Grabbed a little breakfast and out I went again. Sat from 10:45 to 6:30 and only saw a doe with 2 fawns, a couple yearlings and one I’m not sure what it was. That’s the way it’s been for the last couple weeks. IF you see anything it’s a couple min after sunrise or a couple min before sunset. Took the morning off to relocate a couple stands. Kept them in the same area, just switched trees. Went out this evening, at 4:00 saw one lone doe come into the far side of the clearing. Approx. 5 min after that, the smallest racked 8 pt I’ve ever seen emerged and proceeded to put down a scrape. He even stood straight up on his hind legs to lick the higher branches. Pretty cool to watch. Then I watched him chase the doe around for 10-15 minutes. After that all was quiet until dark. With the smaller bucks starting to chase, the bigger ones should start showing their faces during daylight pretty soon I would think. Gotta work all this week, but I can still slip out to the stand after work for 1 1/2 – 2 hrs. Then I’m off the 3rd to the 11th. Still taking alot of trailcam pictures, but everything is after dark. Good bucks are still in the area. Hopefully I can get a crack at one. Good luck everyone.I will be in a tree in the morning.Good luck Ricky,I would like to be but i’m pretty sure I’d be blown out of the tree lol.Sucks I have off monday and tuesday and cannot even hunt.Monster 6, DL 28.5 DW 72#, QAD UltraRest HDX Lost Camo, HHA DS-XL5519, Carbon Tech Panthers, G5 Strikers 100grSat tonight after work. Saw a bunch of deer tonight. 5 does, 1 fork buck and that small 8 pt again. This one came in @ about 30 yards, hit her a little farther back than I would have liked, but she ran 30 yards and I watched her drop. My kind of trackin’ job.
Bad picture. Neither of them have taken one with a bow.Owner of Darkside Archery. Southwest Kansas' newest Mathews/Mission retailer.
Joined: 9/13/2005I have from now until Saturday evening to try to fill my tags. Have had some great experiences with small bucks bedding down in front of me, and deer being REALLY close. Proved my theory about “scent blocker” products, no need for them. Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for me as I head out this afternoon.Good luck buddy!!!
