Q & A: Questions and Answers
I need to change the draw length of my bow, what do I need to do?
You will need to visit an authorized retailer to purchase a new cam in the correct draw length. If your cam is adjustable your maximum adjustment is one inch. For your dual cam McPherson Series Monster bows, your retailer can change your modules to adjust your draw length.
Does Mathews offer any bows for longer draw length shooters (33 and 34-inch)?
Yes, Mathews offers the Prostar that will accommodate draw lengths of 31 to 37 inches with half inch sizes also available.
I want to introduce my children to archery, but I don’t want to buy a new bow every time they grow a few inches. What can I do?
The Mathews Genesis is the answer. Its a bow that fits virtually everyone. Its zero let-off design means there are no specific draw lengths. Anybody with a draw length between 15 inches and 30 inches can shoot the bow. So, as kids grow, they won’t outgrow this bow! And, at 20 pounds, the Genesis will shoot an arrow with the speed of a 35-pound recurve! Please visit your authorized retailer to determine the Genesis model that best fits your young archer.
Which bow is recommended for the beginning archer and how can the draw length be increased when necessary?
Several of our bow models could be a good choice for beginners. The Ignition is our premier youth bow, while the Passion is designed specifically for the female shooter. It’s extremely important to visit our authorized retailers to shoot our bows and for more specific bow model options based on the needs of the individual hunter/shooter.
I’ve noticed a lot of bow accessories, hunting apparel and garments featuring Lost Camo and/or the Mathews name. Where can I find more information on these products and how do I purchase them?
Mathews has over 80 licensees that bare the Mathews name and/ or feature Lost Camo. More information about the Mathews Officially Products can be found here. To order any of the products or to obtain information on all of the Mathews Licensed Products, please visit your Authorized Mathews Retailer.
What rest does Mathews recommend for its bows?
We manufacture a rest with 1-inch or zero overdraw. These rests are made to fit each riser and have an internal spring. The rests are designed with shoot-through prongs and the lizard tongue to accommodate different shooting styles. The 1-inch overdraw rest is not recommended for any bow with a brace height of less than 6 1/2 inches.
What arrow does Mathews recommend for its bows?
After determining your draw length, draw weight and rest type, measure the finished arrow length and determine the point weight you want to use. Then, follow the charts from the arrow manufacturers for the proper spine arrow for your setup.

Do I need to change the string and cable on my bow when I change my draw length or my let off?
You do not need to change your string and cable when you change your draw length unless you have one of the following bows: Q2, Q2XL, SQ2. If you have one of the following bows and you change the let off of your cam, you will need to change your string and/or cable: Black Max 2, FX, MQ1, MQ32 or the Conquest Series.
How do I maintain my bowstring?
We are confident that Zebra bowstrings are the best performing bowstrings in the world. With proper care and maintenance, your Zebra bowstring will maximize your potential as a bow hunter or target shooter.
It is essential to inspect your bowstring regularly for excessive scuffing or cutting. To prevent premature wear, we recommend waxing your bowstring frequently with a silicone-based or synthetic string wax; doing so will also protect your string against water and soil saturation. Wax should be applied generously to the entire length of the bowstring and wiped off for a smooth finish. We recommend replacing your bowstring every two years.
