Think about the wheel and how you would reinvent it. In essence that is what Matt McPherson did to the compound bow, turning a relatively small (approximately only twenty-five bow manufacturers) but highly competitive industry upside down. In fishing, it was the graphite rod; in golf, the over-sized driver. In archery, it was McPherson’s invention of the single cam bow that changed the direction of the industry and set off a wave of innovation. 17 years later, we continue to lead the archery industry in product engineering and diversification.
It is said by industry experts that a Mathews bow is the total package. Mathews has developed the standards by which all other bows are measured- Fast, Smooth, Quiet, Accurate, and Forgiving.
Speed
Pass through Power
You get more power out of a Mathews per pound pulled than other typical Bows. This means power. Pass-through power! It also means that a Mathews bow is easier and smoother to pull compared to other typical bows. And this becomes especially important in cold weather with adrenaline pulsing through your system and a monster buck in your shooting lane.

Perimeter-Weighted Technology™ (Patent 1997)
Because the cam or cams on a bow rotate during arrow launch it becomes important where the center of mass of each cam is located in relation to the axle upon which it rotates. With properly located weights, the launch velocity of the arrow can be increased and the hand shock felt by the archer can be reduced, both very desirable outcomes.
String Material

While most bowhunters sacrifice string stretch for speed, Mathews owners are never forced to compromise. All Mathews bows are equipped with the best bowstrings in the industry: Zebra bowstrings. Specifically designed around each Mathews bow, only Zebra bowstrings can guarantee optimum speed from your Mathews. With meticulous precision, Zebra bowstrings are made from the fastest, stretch-resistant materials available. To maximize your bow’s performance, please visit your Mathews retailer and order your Zebra bowstring today.
Quiet
Why pay more to add accessories to your bow to quiet it down? Mathews bows include innovation after innovation designed to absorb vibration and stifle recoil. Just listen to the difference between a Mathews bow and another and you’ll know which one you will want this year in your hand- and besides a Mathews will never talk back!

String Suppressors™ (Patent 2002)
String Suppressors are another residual energy absorbing mechanism that serves two purposes, to reduce bow hand shock and to simultaneously significantly reduce bow string vibration and noise. Mathews’ persistence in our efforts to reduce noise, vibration and bow hand shock has led the industry to follow suit.
Roller Guard (2002)

The Roller Guard was an innovation of the early 1980’s and abandoned shortly thereafter. Mathews revisited the concept and adapted it to their one-cam technology, doing away with the excessive string and cable movement that existed with the straight rod cable guard system. Mathews was the first to market with an angled roller guard.

String Grub (2009)
New for 2009 is the Mathews String Grubs. String Grubs aid in reducing string vibration in order to gain more speed. The String Grub is an important components in this fully integrated system that helps to optimize efficiency.

Harmonic Damping System™ (Patent 2000)
Watch and listen as Levi and Samantha Morgan demonstrate the differences between a bow riser with and without Harmonic Dampers. Videos require Adobe Flash Player.
When the bow launches an arrow, the greatest portion of the energy stored in the bow is transferred to the arrow but the residual energy must be absorbed by the bow system and archer. Mathews’ harmonic dampers are designed into the bow system and tuned to absorb a significant portion of the residual energy while it is still in the bow, before it can reach the archer. The result is a bow that is smoother and more pleasurable to shoot.

Harmonic Stabilizer (2009)

The Harmonic Stabilizer is another exciting new innovation for 2009 from Mathews, Inc. The Harmonic Stabilizer is purposely tuned to be out of phase with longer riser bows; such as the Reezen, and can dampen more than 75% of residual vibration. When placed in the bottom Harmonic Damper hole on the Reezen the Harmonic Stabilizer will give optimum performance. Another Harmonic Stabilizer can be purchased and put in top damper hole for added weight but little is gained in post residual vibration. One Harmonic Stabilizer will be standard issue on all Reezen and Monster bows and can be purchased as an accessory to retrofit most Mathews bow that is currently equipped with Harmonic Dampers. Visit your local Mathews retailer to shoot the Mathews Reezen today and feel the Harmonic Stabilizer difference for yourself.
Accuracy

The word “Forgiving” is thrown out in the archery world a lot. But what does it exactly mean? It means your mistakes aren’t magnified by your bow. It means you have a Mathews bow in your hand which is accommodated with a long list of their relentless pursuit of archery perfection. Innovations like a large round solocam that pulls over so smooth and you can’t help but be deadly accurate. Accuracy that is validated at the highest level.
Brace height is a key component to stability. The longer the brace height the more stabile you will be at full draw. However, longer brace heights tend to eat up speed on average of 5 feet per second per half inch. The stability and speed game is all about compromising. A happy medium brace height keeps you stable and fast… just looks at the Reezen 6.5 or Reezen 7.0. At 6.5” and 7.0” brace heights you can reach speeds of 340 and 335 fps! Now there’s a Reason!
