Price and Hott Win ASA Classic Titles

The Mathews family embraces Sherry Hott after an emotional win.

The final tournament of the season for the ASA, which is the ASA Classic, was held August 1 – 3, in Cullman, Alabama.  This is what all of the archers have been waiting for.  This tournament is a huge feather in your cap, if you win this title.  When the shoot downs were finished, Duane Price and Sherry Hott won the championships in their respective classes.

Duane Price has already had a great season this year in the Senior Pro class.  He started off the ASA season with a win in Florida, and he ended it the same way!  Price had a final score of 482-17 and captured his first ASA Classic title.  Second place went to Richard Freeland with a score of 477-15.  Mathews shooters finished with seven of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Andy Doss, 474-13, 4th place; Steve Scott, 414-9, 6th place; Randall Jones, 413-11, 7th place; Jimmy Pratt, 411-13, 8th place and Les Bressler, 409-13 in 9th place.

In the Women’s Pro class, Sherry Hott saved the best time to capture her first title of the year.  Hott had a score of 454-8 and won by 11 points!  Second place went to Kailey Johnston with a score of 443-8 and Sharon Carpenter was third with a score of 436-7.  Mathews finished with six of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Ginger Morehead, 431-7, 5th place; Emily Veyna, 386-5, 6th place and Kelly Ward, 378-5 in 10th place.

The top Mathews finisher in the Open Pro class was Thomas Gomez.  Gomez had a score of 480-18 and finished in second place.  Jame Jamison finished in eighth place with a score of 420-13.
