Duane Price Wins First Dakota Classic TitleApril 14, 2014 - mikez
The NFAA First Dakota Classic was held April 12 – 13 in Yankton, South Dakota. The First Dakota Classic is the final leg in the 2014 NFAA 3 Star Tour. This tournament has the competitors shooting two 600 round matches. Each day the competitors shoot 4 ends of 5 arrows at 3 different distances. The young adult, adult and senior classes all shoot at 40, 50 and 60 yards. When the winners were announced, Duane Price had won his second tournament of the season.
Duane Price has been an extremely tough competitor both indoor and outdoor for many years. Earlier this season, Price won his first ASA tournament of the year. Well, this week he proved that he can do it indoors as well. Price led the entire weekend and finished with a score of 1184-55 and won the title in the Senior Compound Unlimited class. Second place went to Jackie White with a score of 1181-66. Allan Ruddock was third with a score of 1180-55. Mathews finished with five of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Mike Leiter, 1179-48, 4th place and Richard Smith, 1176-49 in 9th place.
In the Compound Unlimited Male class, the top Mathews finisher was Henry Bass. Bass had a final score of 1193-74 and finished in third place. Bridger Deaton finished in fourth place with a score of 1193-79 and Braden Gellenthien was fifth with a score of 1193-78.
In the Compound Unlimited Female class, the top Mathews finisher was Lexi Keller. Keller had a final score of 1141-38 and finished in sixth place.
