Duane Price Wins ASA Florida Title

The first tournament of the season for the ASA was held January 31 – Feb 2 in Newberry Florida.  This kicks off the 3D season and it is always highly attended.  After the shoot downs were completed, Duane Price won his first tournament of the 2014 season.

Duane Price has competed for a long time and is known as an extremely strong indoor competitor.  He has competed in 3D shoots for a long time as well and this week he showed everyone that he is as tough outdoors as he is indoors.  Price had a final score of 484-16 and captured the title in the Senior Pro class.  Price had two more 12’s then did fellow Mathews shooter Carl Adkins, who finished in second place.  Third place went to Tom Crowe with a score of 478-13.  Mathews finished with eight of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Lynn Morrison, 471-12, 4th place; Richard Freeland, 412-9, 6th place; Jackie Caudle, 411-13, 7th place; Steve Scott, 408-9, 9th place and Johnny Perhealth, 406-11 in 10th place.

In the Open Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Jeff Hopkins.  Hopkins had a final score of 502-23 and finished in second place.  Mathews finished with five of the top tem finishers in the class.  The rest of the top tem included: Jacob Marlow, 478-19, 4th place; Thomas Gomez, 424-14, 6th place; Walter Rush, 423-18, 7th place and Jake Kreck, 423-15 in 9th place.

In the Women’s Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Kailey Johnston.  Johnston had a final score of 454-11 and finished in second place.  Third place went to Sherry Hott with a score of 449-6.  Mathews finished with five of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Emily Veyna, 385-6, 7th place; Connie Calloway, 382-6, 9th place and Kelly Ward, 382-2 in 10th place.
