Gomez, Boothe and Johnston Win ASA Classic Titles

  The final tournament of the season for the ASA, the ASA Classic was held August 2-4 in Cullman, Alabama.  The competition is fierce and everyone wants to be able to add a Classic championship to their resume.  When the final score were announced, Thomas Gomez, Colin Boothe and Kailey Johnston won the title in their respective classes.

  In the Open Pro Class, Thomas Gomez has had a great end of the season.  He captured the crown at the ASA Louisiana tournament and he was on the team that won the IBO Team Championship.  So, this week he added another huge title to his career wins.  Gomez had a score of 498-19 and won the ASA Classic!  Second place went to Jeff Hopkins with a score of 496-23.  Mathews finished with six of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Justin Bethel, 493-19, 4th place; Darrin Christenberry, 484-19, 5th place; Joseph Goza, 426-16, 7th place and Jacob Marlow, 421-17 in 10th place.

  In the Senior Pro class, Colin Boothe captured the title with a score of 484-17.  Tom Crowe finished in second place with a score of 482-14.  Mathews finished with nine of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Duane Price, 473-12, 4th place; Ray Young, 467-14, 5th place; Steve Scott, 412-10, 6th place; Bill Sennick, 409-10, 7th place; Bobby Cothran, 409-9, 8th place; Tipton Cook, 408-10, 9th place and Carl Adkins, 406-9 in 10th place.

  In the Women’s Pro class, Kailey Johnston won her first ASA Classic title with a score of 464-14.  Third place went to Connie Calloway with a score of 441-5.  Mathews finished with eight of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Ginger Morehead, 438-12, 4th place; Samantha Morgan, 428-9, 5th place; Aime Whittington, 386-6, 7th place; Sherry Hott, 386-3, 8th place; Kaitlyn Price, 383-9, 9th place and Sharon Carpenter, 382-7 in 10th place.
