Adkins and Johnston Win Titles at ASA IL TournamentJuly 2, 2013 - mziebell
The sixth tournament of the season for the ASA was held June 28-30 in Metropolis, Illinois. The Mathews IL Pro/Am is the final tournament for the ASA before the ASA Classic. The archers are in top form and the competition is very tight. When the winners were announced, Carl Adkins and Kailey Johnston won the title in their respective classes.
Carl Adkins has a successful season already. Adkins won the title at the ASA tournament in Texas earlier this year. Well, this week he added to this resume. Adkins had a final score of 476-13 to win his second tournament of the season. Second place went to Ray Young with a score of 475-17. Mathews finished with seven of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Bill Pellegrino, 470-11, 4th place; Tipton Cook, 452-12, 5th place; Burley Hall, 406-11, 8th place; Art Brown, 405-11, 9th place and Eddie Sullivant, 404-11 in 10th place.
In the Women’s Pro class, Kailey Johnston captured her first title of the season. Johnston had a score of 479-11 to take the top spot. Kaitlyn Price finished in third place with a score of 46-12. Mathews had eight of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Kelly Ward, 447-9, 5th place; Sherry Hott, 392-5, 6th place; Ginger Morehead, 392-4, 7th place; Sharon Carpenter, 391-7, 8th place; Connie Griffin, 387-5, 9th place and Daielle Stone, 384-7 in tenth place.
In the Open Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Levi Morgan. Morgan had a final score of 484-18 and finished in the second position. Third place went to Tommy Gomez with a score of 483-18. Mathews had six of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Jeff Hopkins, 477-15, 5th place; Jame Jamison, 418-13, 6th place; Brandon Reyes, 412-13, 9th place and Joseph Goza and Jack Wallace II tied for tenth place with a score of 411-14.
