Ruddock and Budzinski Win First Dakota Classic TitlesAugust 1, 2012 - mziebell
The First Dakota Classic was held July 7 – 8 in Yankton South Dakota. This two day event draws a large number of shooters and when the winners were announced, Allan Ruddock and Emory Budzinski won the championship in their respective classes.
The First Dakota Classic takes place over two days of competition. The competitors turn in a score each day and they are combined to determine the winners. In the Championship Senior Freestyle class, Mathews shooter Allan Ruddock had a dominant performance on day one and had a score of 575-17. This was 13 points higher then the second place competitor. When the second day was finished, Ruddock had a combined score of 1163-40 and won the title by 12 points. Mathews finished with four of the top ten shooters in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Tom Coblentz, 1138-36, 6th place; Tom Crowe, 1136-32, 7th place; and Jackie Caudle, 1121-17 in 9th place.
The top Mathews finisher in the Championship Freestyle Male class was Braden Gellenthien. Gellenthien had a score of 1178-24 and finished in second place. Mathews shooter Henry Bass finished in fifth place with a score of 1168-53.
In the Championship Freestyle Female class, Alicia McHenry was the top Mathews finisher. McHenry had a score of 1119-19 and finished in third place. Holly Larson finished in fifth place with a score of 1103-12.
