Morgan and Johnston Win ASA IL Titles

The sixth tournament of the season for the ASA was held June 29 – July 1 in Metropolis, Illinois.  This is the tournament that is sponsored by Mathews.  The Mathews Solo Cam Pro/Am is always a highly attended tournament. The weather at this tournament is always hot and this year was no exception.  The competitors turned in some very hot scores and when the final results were announced, Levi Morgan and Kailey Johnston won the title in their respective classes.

In the Men’s Open Pro class, Levi Morgan has been unstoppable the past five years.  Well, this past weekend, Morgan did a very impressive Superman impersonation and not only won yet another tournament, but he won in dominating fashion.  Morgan led by 12 points going into the shoot down. In the shoot down, Morgan only had to just hit the target on the last arrow to win. Morgan did just that, but he hit a 14 and turned in a final score of 512-27 and won by 10 points. Mathews finished with four of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Brandon Reyes, 480-18, 4th place; Jeff Hopkins, 422-14, 7th place and Joseph Goza, 421-15 in 8th place.

Morgan and Johnston Win ASA IL TitlesIn the Women’s Pro class, Kailey Johnston captured her second win of the season this weekend.  Johnston had a score of 466-6 and won by six points.  Jeanna Allbritain finished in third place with a score of 458-5.  Mathews finished with six of the top ten finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Connie Calloway, 458-4, 4th place; Ginger Morehead, 393-7, 7th place; Kaitlyn Price, 391-5, 8th place and Andrea Nicholson, 387-4 in 10th place.

 

Morgan and Johnston Win ASA IL TitlesIn the Senior Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Randall Jones.  Jones had a final score of 468-13 and finished in second place. Lynn Morrison was third with a score of 463-13.  Mathews finished with nine of the top ten finishers in the class.  In fact, Mathews finished with eleven of the top twelve finishers in the class.  The rest of the top ten included: Steve Scott, 461-15, 4th place; Colin Boothe, 449-11, 5th place; Tipton Cook, 404-9, 6th place; Scott Price, 404-7, 7th place; Bart Larson, 401-8, 8th place; Carl Adkins, 400-10, 9th place and Todd Shultz, 399-10 in 10th place.
