Johnston, Ruddock and Gentry Win Redding Trail Shoot Titles
The NFAA Redding Trail Shoot and Unmarked 3D Nationals were held May 5 and 6 in Redding California. This is a very popular event with targets ranging from 4 yards all the way to 101 yards. When the winners were announced, Kailey Johnston, Allan Ruddock and Robert Gentry used their Mathews bows to win the championships in their respective cases.
Kailey Johnston has had a very successful archery career already. She is a very strong competitor each and every time she enters a tournament. Well, this weekend, Johnston had a score of 1515 and she won the title in the Pro Female Freestyle class. This was her first win of the season. Third place went to Alicia McHenry with a score of 1509. Mathews finished with eight of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Samantha Morgan, 1500, 4th place; Connie Calloway, 1488, 6th place; Holly Larson, 1476, 7th place; Rhonda Calhoun, 1446, 8th place; Kathy Caudle, 1442, 9th place and Laurie Leroy, 1438 in 10th place.
In the Senior Pro Male Freestyle Class, Allan Ruddock won his first title of the season. Ruddock had a final score of 1525 to take home the top spot. Second place went to Tom Coblentz with a score of 1519. Mathews finished with five of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Jackie White, 1509, 6th place; Tom Crowe, 1507, 7th place and Tim Strickland, 1504 in 8th place.
In the Pro Male Freestyle Limited class, Robert Gentry used his Conquest 3 to turn in a score of 1492 and win the title. This was 13 points higher than the second place finisher. Third place went to Emory Budzinski with a score of 1468.
The top Mathews finisher in the Pro Male Freestyle class was Henry Bass. Bass had a score of 1533 and finished in second place. Mike Leiter finished in 5th place with a score of 1532.
