Rethinking Coyotes

It wasn’t much of a bark. Sort of high and yappy, like a young beagle when he hits the first rabbit track on a hunt. I was ready to ignore it, and so were the does feeding happily in the lush alfalfa 50 yards from my tree. But when the coyote got serious about warming up his vocal chords, things went south in a hurry.
