Adkins and McHenry Win ASA Texas Crowns
The third tournament of the season for the ASA was held April 1 – 3 at the Love Civic Center in Paris, Texas. When the winners were announced, Carl Adkins and Alicia McHenry won the titles in their respective classes.
Carl Adkins went into the shoot down in the Senior Pro class with a five point lead on therest of the class. As the shoot down progressed, it was becoming clear that it would be hard to take the lead. Adkins did enough, and won his first tournament of the season. Adkins had a final score of 463-12 and won by four points. Third place went to Jerry Debree with a score of 457-10. Mathews finished with eight of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Jeff Doss, 455-8, 4th place; Scott Price, 399-8, 6th place; Jackie Caudle, 398-12, 7th place; Bill Sennick, 398-6, 8th place; Randall Jones, 397-11, 9th place and Richard Freeland, 395-7 in 10th place.
In the Women’s Pro class, Alicia McHenry is heating up. McHenry had won two tournaments entering this weeks action and she added another win to her list of accomplishments. McHenry had a final score of 444-8 to capture her third win of the season. Andrea Nicholson finished in second with a score of 443-9. Third place went to Jeanna Allbritain with a score of 443-7. Mathews shooters finished with eight of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Aime Whittington, 435-6, 5th place; Sonya Wright, 376-6, 7th place; Whitney Meadows, 376-5, 8th place; Tracey Sadler, 374-6, 9th place and Samantha Morgan, 374-4 in 10th place.
In the Men’s Open Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Darrin Christenberry. Christenberry had a final score of 494-19 and finished in second place. Levi Morgan finished in third place with a score of 489-22. Mathews finished with four of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Jeff Hopkins, 465-15, 5th place and Art Brown, 414-13 in 8th place.
