The second tournament of the season for the ASA was held March 4-6 at the Ouachita Parish Rifle Range in West Monroe Louisiana. The warm temperatures and shadowy course usually make this tournament a tough one for the competitors. When the final shoot downs were done, Levi Morgan and Alicia McHenry walked away with the titles in their classes.
Levi Morgan is once again coming out of the gates on fire. He has not only won the Open Pro class, but he is doing it in dominant fashion. This week, Morgan led by 8 points going into the shoot down. After the shoot down, Morgan had a final score of 488-22 and won by 20 points.. Second place went to Jack Wallace II with a score of 468-14. Mathews finished with five of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Jeff Hopkins, 455-11, 5th place; Joseph Goza, 414-10, 7th place and Thomas Gomez, 412-12 in 9th place’
In the Women’s Pro class, Alicia McHenry won her first ASA tournament of the season. McHenry had a final score of 457-10 to take home the crown. McHenry had also won the first leg of the IBO Southern Triple Crown as well. Third place went to Connie Calloway with a score of 438-8. Mathews shooters finished with nine of the top ten places in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Sonya Wright, 436-8, 4th place; Samantha Morgan, 434-6, 5th place; Kaitlyn Price and Andrea Nicholson were tied for 6th place a score of 385-4; Annette Pettigrew, 385-3, 8th place; Sherry Hott, 384-3, 9th place and Jeanna Allbritain, 382-3 in 10th place.
In the Senior Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Jeff Doss. Doss had a final score of 470-10 and finished in second place. Mathews had six of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Richard Freeland, 460-8, 4th place; Lynn Morrison, 400-10, 7th place; Buddy Durr, 400-7, 8th place; Derek Phillips, 398-10, 9th place and Jackie Caudle, 398-8 in 10th place.
